Loan information

Memberships

Students enrolled at Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE receive automatic membership to the library.

Membership fees apply to members of the public, university and school students. Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE partnership staff and students pay fees as per negotiated. Contact the library staff for more details.

Returns

During library opening hours, return items to the library.  After hours, return items to the return chute on the ground floor of the library building.

Renewals

Items can be renewed twice. Ask at the loans desk, or call (07) 4042 2539 (Cairns) or (07) 4043 8635 (Innisfail).

Items can also be renewed electronically via our online catalogue. You will need to login with your student number and a PIN. Please contact library staff for a PIN to login. Very overdue or reserved materials cannot be renewed.

Overdue items

Reminder notices are sent to borrowers if items are not returned by their due date.  Borrowing rights may be suspended.  Borrowers will be invoiced for the replacement cost of items that are not returned.

Reservations

If an item you want is on loan or located at another branch ask library staff to reserve it for you. When the item is returned you will be notified. Items waiting for collection are held at the loans desk for seven days.

Requests may also be placed electronically via our catalogue. You will require your student number or library card number.

Remote library service

A remote service is available to Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE staff and students working externally or at TAFE campuses without a staffed library.

Dispatch
Material is posted to staff or students and an extended loan period is usually applied. Please contact the library if resources are required for a longer period of time. Items can be returned to the administration officer at your nearest Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE campus or posted back to the Cairns campus library using the reply paid envelope provided.

Borrowers are responsible for returning items to the library.
