Visual Arts - CUV30203 - Certificate III in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts
Description
These programs address the specific cultural needs of indigenous Australians across a range of visual arts and provide a culturally aware approach to the use of imagery and materials. These programs offer training in skills that will develop students as professional artists with training in a number of areas:

  • batik,
  • painting,
  • drawing,
  • ceramics,
  • linocut
  • screen printing.
Students receive training in the art business, marketing and management in the visual arts industry. Programs allow artists to become involved in a wide variety of art forms.
Careers & Pathways
Visual artists create something from almost nothing. They start with an idea in their head and some raw materials – a palette of paint, a lump of clay, a piece of silk and the image of a fish. Visual artists create something for others to view and learn from. Art tells stories, evokes memories, teaches lessons, creates conflict and is sometimes just amazing to look at.

These programs prepare students to become self-employed artists. Higher qualifications also prepare students to become involved in the art business.
