Marine Engine Driver 3
Subjects from TDM20207 - Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Marine Engine Driving - Grade 3)
Description
This practical course covers fire prevention and control, fuel systems and bilge pumping, electrical systems, steering gear ad deck machinery, principles of operation of internal combustion engines and pre-departure checks. Successful completion will enable you to apply for a Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) Certificate of Competency as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 3. An oral exam with MSQ is required.

This course provides a pathway to Marine Engine Driver Grade 3. 
Entry Requirements
You must be 18 years of age, have a minimum of year 10 with a sound achievement in English and Mathematics or the equivalent, or gain mature age entry.

Applicants will be required to complete an MSQ Workplace-Based Taskbook.

The approximate cost to complete this course is: Standard $660 Concession $366 (further discounts apply if you hold a current Coxswain qualification).

Study Mode
Full-time over two weeks - 8.30am to 4.30pm.
Other information

You will need to provide the following items at your own cost:

*      A notebook, pen and calculator is required for theory components.

*      Copy of “Sea time assessment” from Maritime Safety Qld (if applicable)

 

Appropriate clothing and protective footwear must be worn at all times.

 

Assessment procedures
Observation and oral questioning techniques in a practical assessment of operating procedures, maintenance and fault finding. Written assessments also apply.
