Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE (TNQ TAFE) provides a broad range of education, training and support services to international students.
Our professional and friendly staff are always on hand to help you achieve your study, travel and cultural goals.
TNQ TAFE prides itself on the level of personal service we provide to ensure that all students are made to feel welcome and valued.
To help our students settle in, we provide an airport greeting service, accommodation service and orientation program.
In addition, to help our students succeed, TNQ TAFE provides a wide range of support services through the following staff members and units:
International student support officer - provides ongoing support to international students during their studies at TNQ TAFE in areas including accommodation placement, airport reception, personal and study issues, visa requirements or referral to other support staff.
Student counsellor - Offers a free, confidential counselling service to TAFE students across personal, educational and career issues. Student counselors can help with your career pathways as well as offering confidential support for personal problems including:
- feeling sad or homesick
- financial and accommodation hassles
- family problems
- relationships
- general difficulties with student life
- help adjusting to living in Cairns.
If you want to talk about your experience at TAFE the counsellor also can assist you with your career pathway by providing:
- tips on applying for jobs
- advice on career opportunities
- guidance on career choices.
Learning support unit - TNQ TAFE has a number of tutors who are available to provide support to students who need assistance with their studies.
The Learning support unit is able to help you throughout your studies with research skills, writing skills and layout of assignments.
