Diploma of Sustainability
An exciting new program that introduces students to concepts of sustainability and explores the relationship between the economy, society and the natural environment. Open to current diploma students and individuals who hold a diploma of higher level qualification.
Cert II in Sustainable Energy
This pre-apprenticeship program provides the skills and knowledge necessary to have a selected number of competencies credited against industry standards. This qualification is highly regarded by employers seeking apprentices, as they can be assured of a beginning level of knowledge and task awareness.

Tropical North Queensland TAFE switches on IT in Ghana
After receiving funding for a wireless IT upgrade recently, Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) TAFE donated 200 computers to communities in Ghana.
Reverend Kofi Boateng, foreign IT student and founder of the African Christian Homes and Rehabilitation Centre, brought to TAFE's attention the lack of technology in Ghana.
Yellow bins turn TAFE green
Throwing away rubbish at Tropical North Queensland TAFE (TNQT) is now a greener exercise with the introduction of recycling bins across the campus.
The 10 yellow lid, signed 240 litre recycling bins and enclosures have been strategically placed at building entrances and near food establishments around the institute to ensure students, staff and visitors are given the best chance to recycle their waste.

Design students enjoy fashion feast
Seventeen Tropical North Queensland TAFE fashion design students made kitchen dressing delectable when they displayed their 'garbs from garbage' creations recently.
Institute Director Jo Pyne said the student's designs highlighted Tropical North TAFE's focus on promoting sustainability.
Sustainability draws a crowd
A busy weekend in Cairns did nothing to stop Cairns locals turning out in droves to Tropical North Queensland TAFE's annual Sustainability Expo.
The event was held on Sunday, 22 August and attracted the interest of 34 stallholders and hundreds of people who were interested in learning more about sustainability and products and services available in the Far North.

Power Saving Initiative from TAFE QLD
In an effort to reduce our operating costs and to reduce TAFE QLD's Carbon Footprint, an automatic shutdown of all networked computers at 10:30pm each night has been implemented across Tropical North Queensland TAFE. This initiative has been in place since early 2010 and is a positive step to reducing energy use across the campuses.
