Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE offers a range of commercial training facilities where students hone their skills through service to the general public, staff and other students.

Enjoy a meal at the Tropics or Queenslander restaurants. Receive a haircut, relax with a massage or visit our art exhibitions.

Tropics restaurant

Enjoy a Tropics lunch with three courses and freshly brewed tea and coffee.

Voted 2003 Restaurant of the Year by the Catering Institute of Australia, Tropics has been providing a first-class dining experience for 27 years.

Menus are designed and prepared by third year apprentice chefs under the guidance of industry experienced teachers.

Service is provided by Certificate III level Hospitality students.

Lunch and corporate bookings are available.

Cost: $19.50 per person ($16.50 per person with senior's discount).

Location: S Block, Cairns Campus.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:15pm.

Art galleries

Attend an art exhibition at the Banggu Minjaany Art Gallery by current and former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visual arts students and professional artists.

Location: R Block, Cairns Campus.

Exhibitions are also held in the Y block gallery at the Cairns campus.
