TNQT Outdoor leadership team wins Distinguished Achiever Award

Tropical North Queensland TAFE's Outdoor Leadership Team has been recognised with a prestigious award in the 2011 Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards.
The Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards are 10 years old this year.
They recognise and reward excellence in the outdoor recreation community.
The awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have been successful in significantly improving outdoor recreation outcomes for participants and clients.
To mark the tenth year of the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards, three Distinguished Achiever Awards were created.
The inaugural awards were announced by Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF) CEO, Dr Donna Little at a ceremony held in Brisbane on Friday, October 28.
Dr Little said the Distinguished Achiever Award recognised longstanding and consistent delivery of excellence in Outdoor Leader Training.
"Since the inception of the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards in 2002, Tropical North Queensland TAFE's Outdoor Leadership Team has been a consistent winner of QORF awards.
"Over the ten-year period, Tropical North Queensland TAFE's Outdoor Leadership Team has won the Fostering Training and Professional Development Award four times.
"They have also won the Outstanding Achievement (Organisation) Award, had one of their students win the Encouragement Award and were a finalist in the Excellence in Outdoor Instruction and Education Award
"Now, and quite deservedly, Tropical North Queensland TAFE's Outdoor Leadership Team is one of three organisations to be recognised for their outstanding achievements in Outdoor Leader Training by winning the inaugural 2011 Distinguished Achiever Award, "Dr Little said.
Deputy Institute Director Donna-Maree O'Connor said TNQT is proud of this outstanding achievement by the Outdoor Leadership Team.
"The Outdoor Leadership Team continually delivers innovative approaches to advanced training courses and consistently provides our local tourism industry with optimally trained individuals who excel in high levels of leadership and superior customer service skills.
"This award is recognition that Tropical North Queensland TAFE's Outdoor Leadership Team excels at delivering our region's promise that we really are 'adventurous by nature'", Ms O'Connor said.
