Tropical North Queensland TAFE is preparing to kick off 2010 in a big way with a wide array of courses to help far northerners realise their study or career goals.

TAFE Director Jo Pyne said more than 200 full-time, part-time, external and online will commence from February.

"As part of TAFE's commitment to far north Queensland, we endeavour to deliver a range of innovative and interesting courses that reflect the diversity of our region," Ms Pyne said.

"This includes programs at Certificate III, IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level across areas including fashion, information technology, conservation, Indigenous studies, marine, tourism and trade."

TAFE diploma graduates can also take advantage of credit arrangements with selected university bachelor programs, in particular Business and Management, Beauty Therapy, Hospitality, Tourism, Sustainability, Art and Music.

2010 study options include new programs in Protective Care, Responsible Gambling Services and the combined Hotel Front Office and Food and Beverage course.

Year 11 students looking to combine their schooling with vocational training can also enrol in the SchoolTech program, delivered in partnership with Education Queensland at the Cairns TAFE Campus.

"TAFE has a range of pathways to help you achieve your career and study goals and to suit your lifestyle and circumstances," Ms Pyne said.

Ms Pyne urged those keen to upskill, gain a qualification or even start a new hobby to contact Tropical North Queensland TAFE on 1300 656 959 or visit www.tnqit.tafe.qld.gov.au.

Semester One 2010 will commence from 1 February.
