With average household power bills set to rise by more than 15 per cent from 1 July, there's never been a better time for far north Queenslander's to make their homes more sustainable.
Regional residents will be able to find out how to live well, be green and make a difference at the second annual Green Living Expo at the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE (TNQIT) Cairns Campus on Saturday, 20 June from 8.00am to 2.00pm.
The free expo will feature almost 30 exhibitors showcasing environmentally-friendly products, services, projects and initiatives, as well as 15 public education workshops, to highlight the many ways far northerner's can reduce their ecological footprint and save money.
TNQIT Director Jo Pyne said the expo would provide a one-stop-shop for going green at home and work.
"The Green Living Expo is the perfect place for householders, individuals and business owners to access advice, information, tools, products and services to help them live and work more sustainably," Ms Pyne said.
"Creating a sustainable future is everyone's business and events like this provide a golden opportunity for people to discover how they can make a difference.
"TAFE is proud to be partnering with Cairns Regional Council and Events NQ to stage this important community event, and I encourage everyone to attend.
"I'd also like to thank our media partners ABC Radio and Zinc FM for their support."
The Green Living Expo will be held in R Block at the Cairns TAFE Campus, off Gatton Street in Manunda.
Entry is free and food and drink will be available on site.
A workshop schedule and list of exhibitors is attached.
