First group complete Premier Customer Service Program

Thursday, 27 September 2007 9:51AM

Twenty Cairns locals are the first from tropical north Queensland to graduate from Australia's premier customer service program, after completing a one-day AussieHost training course at TAFE.

The students studied a range of techniques and competencies aimed at the retail, tourism and hospitality industries and focussing on the provision of superior customer service and generating repeat business.

TAFE teacher Sarah-Jane Gourlay said the industry led AussieHost program is an ideal short course that teaches fundamental customer service skills imperative to business success.

"AussieHost is a Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) training initiative supported by Tourism Tropical North Queensland and Tourism Queensland," said Ms Gourlay.

"Training covers quality customer service, workplace and personal presentation, communication skills, handling complaints and knowing your customers, all of which are designed specifically for the retail, tourism and hospitality sectors."

The AussieHost program has received interest from a number of local organisations and the next course will take place on 4 October. Those interested in participating should contact Tropical North Queensland TAFE on 1300 656 959.
